All Natural Farming: Mott Family Farm

Mott Family Farm June 15th 2008 Mott Family Farm June 15th 2008 Mott Family Farm June 15th 2008 Mott Family Farm June 15th 2008

We spent yesterday day at my husband's cousin's farm with Jeff and his wife Shelly and their two older boys who are 11 and 8. They also have a baby boy who is 9 months old. They are wonderful people, really good and kind people. It was a blast to see them again and spend the day on their farm! We hadn't seen them since the Christmas holidays. They are all natural farmers; they do not use any insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilizer. When they bought their farm the land was overrun with pests and within a few years using permaculture methods they turned it around. Now the farm is self-supporting and their livelihood, they started a CSA and also sell to local restaurants.

Here's a good article about their farm: Local family meets needs, works to change countryside

Their page on Guernsey County Farmers Market website.

Natural Peanut Butter October 2007

Natural Peanut Butter October 2007

Ok I am a vegetarian and into natural food, low salt food, organic food, all that, but if there is one food I do think needs to be salted and preserved it's peanut butter.

OK?

My husband thinks otherwise and is always buying natural peanut butter. It must be refrigerated but it's hard to spread even when it's warm. It tastes ad feels just like chewed up peanuts. That somebody else chewed up.

I really like heavily salted and preserved peanut butter much better.
