We finally got all the tomato plants pulled!! The kids were a huge help with pulling the stakes, picking the tomatoes, digging trenches, and laying in the compost. I told them it would only take 30 minutes but it ended up taking a whole hour, but they were good sports about it. Surprisingly, my daughter got very into it. She likes to help with the garden at the beginning, when it's just dealing with seeds, but once everything is growing she doesn't like to go in the garden because of
bug grossness like this. So I told her that all I'd like her to do was pick off any tomatoes left on the plants after her brothers and I pulled them. There were
still a lot of tomatoes, most of them unripe. She did that and then helped with laying in the compost. The boys dragged all the tomato plants back to my new compost heap and helped dig trenches and lay it in. We had a lot of fun! Good times.
