New Garden Tools & Surprise Roots

Check out this basket & tools & gloves my in-laws gave me last Christmas! I have been waiting patiently since December to use them!!

2 pothos leaves I pruned off a plant last fall. They were small and droopy and ready to die so I clipped them and stuck them in an old wine glass to use as decoration on my kitchen sink. Since then they have grown roots and even gotten bigger!

Growing a Pineapple

I just have to try and grow almost every fruit or vegetable that comes into my house. I know darn well pineapple is not going to grow outside in Ohio, and with much difficulty inside...still I gotta try!

Getting Started on My 2007 Garden!

I am so excited about spring and my garden!! I have some newspaper pots done and sowed some spinach seeds. I am going to do 2 crops of spinach this year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Last year I waited till summer to plant and a lot of my spinach bolted to seed because of the heat. We still had quite a bit and I was able to freeze bags of it, which was nice during that scare last year. We eat spinach at least twice a week so I would like to grow enough to freeze at least that, plus what we will eat during the growing season. That's a lot of spinach! I will devote at least half of my garden to spinach during the spring and most if not all of my balcony pots.

Here is what I have planted so far:

It's still cold out and neither my front or back porch is heated, so these will stay on the window seat in my dining room for now.
