Busted Ankle, Family Issues, Opening Delayed

Ankle Not So Bad June 27th 2008

I twisted up my ankle pretty bad a few weeks ago. It was so slow to heal I went to two bone doctors, one said it was a hairline fracture and I needed a cast. The other said it was just a grade two sprain and all I need to do is wear a brace for the next two weeks. It kinda sucks and I think I made things worse by stomping about on my ankle when it first happened, ignoring the pain. Oh well. That combined with some family issues has me delaying the soft opening of Texture to July 18th. It's still gonna rock! There is just still so much to do and I don't want to be hobbling around trying to get everything ready, and not being able to be up and about like I want to.

One of My Favorite Bookstores Is Closing

The bookstore on W.25th street in Cleveland, Ohio is closing at the end of the month. This was one of my favorite bookstores and a big inspiration to me. I am very sad about it's closing; this will be a big loss to the area. From the article in the Plain Dealer:

Unlike the long-haired cat that lives among the aging titles in the Bookstore on West 25th, the dusty, cluttered shop near the West Side Market will have only two lives. About 18 months ago, the landmark store was in code blue and failing fast, but patrons and friends of owner Mike O'Brien held a rent party, giving the place a new life. The revival, however, was short-lived. Now the old Mecca for suburban intellectuals and urban poor people -- who for decades browsed among the wooden shelves and the 25-cent rack -- is in its final hour.

365 Day 9: Tired Trula June 2nd 2008

I am a TIRED Trula today y'all. Today was really productive but incredibly draining. This whole week is going to be busy, lots of work. Lots of doing stuff for the bookstore, lots of writing work. Being stuck on the computer working for hours like I was in this pic, which I detest.

I was feeling sorry for myself and resentful of all I have to do...but quickly got over playing poor pitiful me because this is what I have chosen. This is what I want to do. I can do it!
