Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon 2008

I'm doing the half-marathon event at the RiteAid Cleveland Marathon 2008! I am excited about it. This will be my first official half-marathon. Some event info:

May 18, 2008
Marathon/Half 7:00 AM
10K 7:35 AM
Starts at St. Clair & E 13th

Training plan basics:
Sat, Sun, Tue - 5 mile run days
Wed,Thu,Fri - 3 mile run + 2mile walk days.
Monday - just walk 10,000 steps day

I'm still doing 30 minutes of yoga daily. BIG help with breathing control during running & endurance. I will challenge myself with difficult poses for strength.

Day 4 Cleveland Marathon 2008 Training

It's very slick out today, I had to decide whether or not to run outside on icy sidewalks or drive on icy roads to the gym and run on treadmill. The roads cleared up so at first I was going to go to gym, but then decided just to run outside as it would be quicker than going to the gym. I forgot I'm volunteering at my 10-year-old son's school today.

Weight at 137 today, these last few pounds are aggravating me. I'm not going to worry about it, of after doing all this training for the marathon I'm still at 137-138, then I'll know for sure that's my body's set-point and the weight I'm supposed to be. Sure as heck beats being over 200 pounds this time last year, humph.

Today’s Health Goals:
Run 5 miles
Drink 120 oz water
One serving meals, seconds declined
No salt added to food
Raw veggies for snacks, birthday cake for dessert
Brush & floss after every meal
Start: 137.5 pounds
Today’s weigh-in: 137 pounds
Weight Goal: 130 pounds

Day 3 Cleveland Marathon 2008 Training

Day 3 training for Cleveland Marathon. Just 10,000 walking today thank goodness. I'm going to break it up into three walks: two 4,000 step walks and one 2,000 steps.

Today’s Health Goals:
Walk 5 miles/10,000 steps
Drink 120 oz water
One serving meals, seconds declined
No salt added to food
Raw veggies for snacks, birthday cake for dessert
Brush & floss after every meal
Start: 137.5 pounds
Today’s weigh-in: 137 pounds
Weight Goal: 130 pounds

Day 2 Cleveland Marathon 2008 Training

Today was Day 2 of my training for half-marathon. Sunday so another 5-miler, yes! My 13-year-old son went with me on my run, that was such a treat. The run today was harder in some ways, but easier in others. Running with him showed me the work I need to do. He's like a gazelle! I can't remember being that swift and light of foot, but maybe I was at that age, LOL.

Day 1 Cleveland Marathon 2008 Training

I am doing the Rite-Aid 2008 Cleveland Marathon this year! It is May 18th and I plan to do the Half-marathon. Today was day one of my training.

The run was exhilarating! but very hard. Training is gonna be intense.

There were moments of single-minded determination: just put one foot in front of other.

There were moments of tears. I really thought I was in better shape.

I had to tell myself: You will not die if you keep running, LOL

Gear: two pairs socks, running shoes, track shorts over yoga pants, sports bra, t-shirt, long shirt, running jacket, winter headband, gloves

Training plan basics: Sat, Sun, Tue are 5mile run days. Wed,Thu,Fri 3mile run + 2mile walk days. Monday just walk day.

Scale is Starting to Move Again

The scale is starting to move again. Weighed-in this morning at 137.5, which is nice. I'm upping my water content again, too, lately I've been drinking about 80z water a day instead of 120oz. The extra water really helps with weight loss and staying hydrated during exercise. I wanted to take more pics on my birthday, January 13th, but I don't think I'll be at my goal weight by then. Maybe I will anyway, it's been a while since I updated with pics.

45 minutes elliptical
Drink 120 oz water
One serving meals, seconds declined
No salt added to food
Raw veggies for snacks, raw fruit for dessert
Brush & floss after every meal
Start: 210 pounds
Today’s weigh-in: 137.5 pounds
Goal: 130 pounds

Gained Back a Few

I did ok with my eating during th holidays but after New Year's overate somewhat. Sheesh it's been a year and I still have eyes bigger than belly syndrome. Ok, back on track. I'm going to lose these last eight pounds so I can start my next fitness goal. I can do it! Happy New Year.
