Submit to Mama Anthologies
Call for Submissions! This is kind of short notice on some projects we have in the works but here it is. Anika's been bugging me about getting this up on the site. They are:
Teen Mama: Perspectives
Publication date: October 2005 Submission Deadline: August 21st, 2005
We're loking for essays from teenage mothers about their pregnancy experience and raising children. Please include your age at the time you gave birth and current age as well as the age of the father/other parent of child or children.
Afro Mama: Perspectives
Publication date: October 2005 Submission Deadline: August 21st, 2005
We're loking for essays from self-identified black mothers (mothers of African descent) about raising black children. We accept essays from black mothers from around the world, so please include your cultural identity (i.e African American, Caribbean, etc) as well as the cultural identity of father/other parent of child or children. Essays from adoptive mothers or step-mothers welcome!
Mixed Mama: Perspectives
Publication date: October 2005 Submission Deadline: August 21st, 2005
We're loking for essays from mothers raising mixed/multi-racial children or mono-racial children from different racial/cultural group than you. Please include your own racial/cultural identity as well as the racial/cultural identity of father/other parent of child or children. Essays from adoptive mothers or step-mothers welcome!
Payment: On publication, writers will receive $100 plus one copy of the book.
Essays should be about 1500 - 2000 words. One essay per writer. Previously published works ok although we prefer fresh content.
