What Does Natural Mean To You?
When I think of 'natural' hair, the term to me refers to hair in it's natural texture; the hair texture hasn't been chemically or physically altered. Since chemical color has never had any effect on the texture of my hair, I think that hair that has been chemically colored can be considered natural. However I have heard from others that chemical color has definitely altered the texture of their hair, so their hair is no longer natural. Hmmmmmm. What do you think?

i definitely believe that hair that has been altered by a chemical in ANY way shape or form, from color to texture, is no longer natural. i believe natural is just that--natural! however, i do not think that it is neccessarily bad to color treat your hair, especially if you use a more "natural" means, such as peroxide and the sun.
either way it goes, i have seen some locs that have been stunningly beautiful with color added, i think that just added to the beauty, not took it away :)
I also think of natural as an alteration of texture. I have colored my hair for years and still have very tight, highly coiled, nappy hair.

hmmmmm. i guess technically, hair that has been chemically altered is not natural.
but for me, right now my focus on being "natural" and encouraging other afro-textured people to go natural is one where there are no chemicals that are meant to alter the texture, same with heating products, of the hair. Hair changing its texture becuase of coloring is just a "side-effect" for me right now.
So my definition has to deal with the intent of keeping the natural texture.
