Some Questions to Men of Color

Do you think that men of color ever do sexist things against women of color?

In non-european run countries, do you think men of color don't have male privilege? Like in African countrie?

Do you feel men of color have no power to change their sexist behavior against women of color? If so, why do you think men of color have no control over themselves; over what they do?

I understand America is not a black country. I am specifically asking about African countries because many black men I have talked to about patriarchy feel male privilege is only for white males. Sexism exists in African countries, so I was wondering if any of you feel that in all-black countries black men have male privilege.

I've always wondered how can any man of color say that he doesn't have any male privilege. You have at least one male privilege; the privilege to walk out your door at any time of day or night and not worry about being raped. Being a woman in this culture is like being a man in prison, except you're considered everyone's bitch and everywhere the soap is dropped.

Imagine having to live under just that kind of oppression.

If you think I am exaggerating, imagine having a daughter. Imagine her being 15 years old, it's 11 o'clock at night, and her saying Hey daddy I want to walk up the street to the corner store and get a pop. I will be right back. What would you say?

I bet that 100% of you men would say OH NO. at the very least you would walk up there with her, or watch her from the porch coming and going. But most fathers if not 100% of caring involved fathers would not allow her to walk up there alone or unwatched, at that time of night. and why is that? because ya'll know what could happen to her. You know the threat is real.

Do any of you think that men of color are incapable of stopping themselves from being sexist? If so, why?

I'd also like to know what men of color think women can do to help solve this problem. Consider fighting does not solve or alleviate the problem. Say some dude pushed up on your daughter or other female relative and she responded by fighting him...she still got pushed up on. The problem still happened. I'm asking, what can women of color do to help stop this sort of thing from happening in the first place?
