Mother's Day Re-cap
My mother's day was very strange, but ended up great. Starting out I felt fine, I was up all kinds of early way before my husband and kids. Then they got up and got started on my day. Brian was making brunch, and the kids gave me their presents. Out of nowhere I got these AWFUL cramps, it was so bizarre. Like a bad combination between severe period cramps and diarrhea cramps. TMI, I know, but it gets worse, so if you are sensitive to reading about gross bodily functions, stop reading now.
I am sensitive to pain but I also dislike taking medicine so I tried to deep-breathe it away, no dice. The pain skyrocketed, within minutes I could barely move. It now went from feeling like a period cramp to sick-poopy cramp, so I inched my way to the bathroom. I didn't think I had to poop because I had already done my usual morning dump, but is sure felt like I had to poop, so I tried. I was heaving and grunting on the can when, gaia have mercy, I felt my gorge rise and...you guessed it, I threw up while on the can. My word. It was the most awful feeling, because while I was yakking I still felt this tremendous pressure in my bowels. But nothing was coming out the other end!! Yikes. But I wiped just in case, force of habit, you know, and got up to clean the yakk juice off myself. and I threw up again. and again. and again. Luckily I hadn't eaten breakfast yet so all that came up was the orange juice and water I had just drank and stomach bile, but it was still nasty. Just all types of gross. The vomiting alleviated the gastrointestinal pressure a teensy-bit, enough so I could drag myself to bed. Whereupon I collapsed and lay prone, broken out in a cold sweat.
Then I felt feverish, and opened the window, which is serious business. I am a freeze baby and it is early May in northeast Ohio, and rainy to boot, so for me to actually want cool air blowing over me signified serious sickness. Usually on Mother's Day Brian and the kids take me to Borders for the day to pick out whatever books I want. But I was so sick going was out of the question. Brian went and got me a nice gift card, it even had Sesame Street on it (I am a huge Sesame Street fan)!! So that made me feel a little better.
I laid around all day, and tried eating a little bit. I actually ate most of the brunch Brian made, but then started feeling queasy again. The kids got me some really nice presents! Scott and Todd both made me gift cards which I turn in for a favor, like one is they make me a meal, and another is they help me with stuff around the house. Yay! Scott also made me a very touching card and Todd made me a silhouette of himself at school. Yay! Iyende got me a lotion, soap, and body spray set from bath & Body Works in my favorite scent, Pearberry. Yay! and my babies and husband took care of me all day. It turned out to be a great Mother's Day!
