Winter Depression
Ok, so the great winter season of 2005-2006 has 'officially' begun for me. I have no set date for when winter begins, but rarely does it coincide with the calendar date. It's just a feeling I have inside.
I went out for my morning walk today. I had to force myself to do it, but I know from past winters that getting out everyday in the winter is neccessary for my mental health. Part of what causes winter depression is that there is less daylight and then on top of that people tend to stay indoors because it is so cold.
I was layered up fairly good, have on thick boots and nice warm gloves and a hat, nice thick coat, so I didn't feel too cold. The wind felt almost solid, though, it took my breath away. I am grateful that it is not so cold or windy out yet that the wind goes right through the clothes and coat and all. Not quite cold enough for me to break out my snow suit and face-mask hat.
I felt so tired though, walking along. I just wanted to go home and lay down on my big living room floor and wait there until the kids come home. I have too much to do though, and being active helps too. I will do business stuff until 1pm and then housework for an hour and then go for another walk and then work on my quilts. Then my babies will be home. I am sure my boys will want to go outside and play in the snow. My daughter also gets a little slowed-down in the winter, she will probably sit and have tea with me for a bit and then go take a nap before doing her homework.
I am determined not to let this winter beat me.
