Preparation

Today we went shopping for school supplies and stuff. One of the local papers printed up an issue that had all the school supplies needed listed not only by grade but by school, how cool is that. I guess the kids did not like having their supplies late last year because they have been insistent about having everything the first day this year.

We went to a discount store and got all their supplies, it was fairly quick because we had the list and they were motivated so did most of the looking. I just had to remind them to comparison shop, like don't get the name-brand glue for $2 when the store brand is 67 cents. Todd was a little bummed out because the pre-school starts up again a few weeks after Iyende and Scott start. He didn't understand why he couldn't get a bunch of supplies, but felt better after I got him a pack of crayons and a folder.

Scott is going into second grade, and Iyende is going into 8th. I feel so overwhelmed by this new school year. I think maybe because it seems like they are growing so fast. Scott picked out his outfit and is just so excited about going back to school, and Iyende is bubbly about school starting up too.
